Lily Hollows might seem like she spends her time sprinkling pixie dust in forests and chasing butterflies, but her combat boots don’t go unnoticed.
She draws inspiration from her early youth, fluttering through the English woods and going on to blossom in up-tempo Johannesburg. Being inspired by Katie Melua and Sabrina Carpenter, her striking lyrics lurk beneath delicate melodies.
Lily’s love for performance stretches beyond the musical stage, with various awards from the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association, South African Championships of Performing Arts, Talent for Africa and having obtained provincial colours for performance, her heart for her music beats more than just 120 bpm.
Lily Hollows is a South African artist who has performed at Nationals and SACOPA.(South African Championships of Performing Arts) She has received various gold awards at these events and has performed at numerous benefits as well as being the opening act for Monark at the Ruimsig Stadium.
Other than finishing up her final year at AFDA for a degree in musical performance, Lily is currently crafting her second EP which “tackles desperation in a rose garden society”.
Gender-based violence has been a long-standing issue in South Africa, ‘Rebuild’ sheds a ray of hope on the matter. “Rebuild speaks about a crumbled community. We, as South Africans, are tired of putting up a fight. We are tired of speaking in hushed tones and hiding downcast faces.
We are called to action, from all walks of life, for there in strength in numbers.” Rebuild speaks about a nation, rebuilt.
