iSandi grew up on a farm in rural Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her world was shaped by family and vast open landscapes that naturally nurtured her curiosity and imagination. She was raised by her aunt who filled her nights with fairytales, folklore, legends and myths, shaping her imagination and creativity. iSandi attended boarding school and during her high school years her interest in music began. She started writing her first songs and taking music as a subject, which introduced her to various musical instruments. Her participation in a band called Kush shaped her artistic voice into what it is today.
Since her debut EP, Intyatyambo (2022), iSandi has explored themes of growth, humanity and positive change, sharing stages with acclaimed artists such as The Muffinz, Vusi Mahlasela, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Muneyi and Tubatsi Moloi. Throughout 2024, iSandi collaborated with a range of South African artists on the track ‘Together We Are Stronger’, including Ramelo, Pedro Barbosa, Lia Elise, Ross Learmonth, SEVVEN, Me-Ko, SONIQUE, SeanJ and Mark Beling which forms part of the RADA Unearthed Volume 3 album. iSandi is passionate about music education and composition, teaching instruments and theory while creating music for film, yoga and ambient environments. Her YouTube channel, iSandi Ambient Soundscapes, showcases cinematic works for calm, memory and reflection, including recent releases like Floating Memories and Once Upon An Autumn.
